The Southeast Permanente Medical Group

The Southeast Permanente Medical Group is an integral part of Kaiser Permanente. Our physicians can coordinate virtually every aspect of patient care - from referrals to laboratory tests to medications. With everything under one umbrella, our patients receive the highest continuity of care.

There’s a large (and increasing) body of evidence for the benefits of mindfulness to treat a variety of conditions. There is also evidence that patients benefit from being treated by providers who have a regular mindfulness practice, and providers who practice mindfulness are less likely to experience burnout.

The goal/objectives of this course are:

  1. Learn the benefits of mindfulness for health care providers and their patients as based on current research.
  2. Become familiar with the neurobiology of stress and mindfulness.
  3. Establish a personal mindfulness meditation practice.
  4. Enhance the ability to be mindfully present with patients.
  5. Cultivate awareness, non-reactivity, and compassion for both patient and oneself.
